Restore health and hope with individualized, evidence-based treatment for anorexia

Anorexia nervosa is a potentially life-threatening eating disorder that has the highest mortality rate of any mental health disorder. Anorexia is typically marked by low body weight, fear of gaining weight and a distorted body image. It is critical to recognize that the mental and emotional effects of anorexia are just as dangerous as the physical.

Our eating disorder certified treatment professionals empower you or your loved one to embrace a life of total health and hope with the expertise and commitment you need to help you fully recover.

Let KellerLife’s expert, certified specialists help you or your loved one regain control and restore your physical, mental, spiritual, and relational health.

Bulimia

Take charge of your eating again

Bulimia nervosa involves body-image distortion and is characterized by binge eating followed by using purging behaviors to compensate for calories consumed. This “purging” includes self-induced vomiting, restricting food, fasting, over-exercising, using laxatives or diuretics. These behaviors can lead to electrolyte imbalances, putting you at risk for heart failure, kidney failure and death. Bulimia often leads to an individual feeling ashamed or out of control, withdrawing from activities and people, and feeling their self-worth is tied to their body and weight.

Let KellerLife’s expert, certified specialists help you or your loved one regain control and restore your physical, mental, spiritual, and relational health.

Binge Eating Disorder

Get past your bingeing behaviors and the feelings behind them

Binge eating disorder (BED) is defined by consuming abnormally large amounts of food in a short period of time, feeling unable to stop eating (loss of control), eating large amounts when not hungry, and eating well past the point of fullness. Women with BED often struggle with feelings of shame and disgust; and anxiety and depression are not uncommon. BED is the most common eating disorder, but it is also the most misunderstood and undertreated. Many people confuse BED with Bulimia because of the bingeing, but BED does not involve using compensatory behaviors to purge calories, as Bulimia does. BED also does not automatically mean that the individual lives in a larger body or is of a higher weight as many people assume; it can affect people of all weights, shapes and sizes.

Let KellerLife’s expert, certified specialists help you or your loved one regain control and restore your physical, emotional, spiritual and relational health.

Co-Occurring Disorders

Maximize your loved one’s recovery success with complete treatment

Treating eating disorders successfully means also identifying and treating the other disorders that may — and very often do — occur with anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder. Co-occurring disorders can intensify the symptoms of eating disorders, and increase health risks. Not addressing them while simultaneously treating an eating disorder can contribute to relapse and complicate the recovery process.

At KellerLife, our behavioral health professionals are experts in identifying, diagnosing and treating these co-occurring disorders, which include:

• Depression and other mood disorders

• Anxiety disorders, including social anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder

• Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

• Substance abuse disorders
